The ZAK Entertainment Malabrigo Yarn Lace Knitting Giveaway!

Here we are, it’s the 1st of September which means it's time to kick off the ZAK Entertainment 1 Year Anniversary! It's absolutely crazy to think I’ve been running this blog for over an entire year now and looking back I’ve written about so many topics from my life already. What started off as just a way for me to talk about what I love and what I do in my life has turned into something larger then my life. Throughout this blog I’ve not just talked about what I love I’ve grown and found new interests such as Watercolor and Art in general which I had no plans to even touch on when starting this blog up but it just sort of happened. With over 150 blogs written there's a lot of reading material on this blog now and with over 40,000 viewers I thank you all for joining me on this journey. Now let’s look to the future.

You like giveaways? How about knitting giveaways? Knitting has been a major part of this blog since its inception and I’ve always said acts as a blanket over the other topics. I mean I post a free knitting pattern in 99% of my blogs regardless of the main topic. Well as a love letter to you all for sticking around this past year I’ve got some amazing Yarn to give way courtesy of Dido’s stash, aka my Mum.

My Mum is the force behind my becoming a knitter and I can say was a big push in me starting this blog so as a big thank you to her, I raided her yarn stash again. (Yeah again, this isn’t a rare occurrence.) So for this giveaway I'm going to give you the chance to win this Malabrigo Yarn Skein!

Mum's had this for a while all sealed and safe and she’s graciously given it to me to give to one of you! This is 100% Baby Merino wool Lace Yarn. The color is Cosecha 229 which brings me to this next point, this Yarn color is not available anymore! Yes you can buy Malabrigo Yarn still but this specific color is not produced anymore making this one of a kind. This skein holds approximately 470 yards / 50 Grams of yarn. As this is lace Yarn you could use this on all sorts of light weight knitted items. The colors are absolutely gorgeous so this is a chance of a life time and one of YOU will get the chance to win this and all you have to do is comment on this specific blog below.

Now before you dive down to the comment section I would like you to comment about what you thought of ZAK Entertainment this past year, while some of you may be new I know a lot of you have stuck around for a while so I would love feedback regarding this past year but also feel free to drop me ideas for what I could write about in the next year! I appreciate all feedback and I will seriously consider anything you say so please let your mind run onto the text box, I mean that's how I write this blog all the time. Also feel free to comment about anything regarding the layout of the blog, there's going to be some major changes within a few weeks but I'm up to any ideas.

Just one comment on this blog post (You can comment more than once but you only get one entry) will get you entered in this giveaway (Really ingenious comments might get you something extra, who knows) and I will be announcing the winner on September 29th’s blog which just so happens to be the official Anniversary of the ZAK Entertainment launch day. So you have all month to comment on this specific blog but be sure to leave your email or some way of contacting you so I can let you know if you’ve won. Also commenting on my social media does not count so make sure it’s on this post! May the odds ever be in your favor and thank you so much for sticking with me this past year!

Of course I'm not ending today’s blog there I have some more knitting progress to show you guys regarding that French dishcloth I started a week ago.

Nope it’s still not finished yet, I swear I'm not being slow this Dishcloth is MASSIVE and while I wanted it to be a perfect square I may have to end it off early so I can move on to other projects as well as the fact that we’re running out of dishcloths that we're knitted last year due to a knitting massacre (It's not a pretty sight). I was hoping to get this finished for today’s blog but oh well. I promise I’ll have it finished soon.

Before you all dive to post your comments I have a little story to tell, it's not a long story but it definitely made the other night an interesting one. After finishing a row of my dishcloth I decided to take our three dogs outdoors, it was around 11:00 central time I believe and the oddest encounter took place. To my shock (and the bird’s) a Morning Dove was sitting outside of the backyard door. I’ve never encountered many wild birds up close before so I have to say I may have freaked out, just a little. The poor and frightened bird fluttered over to one of our back porch chairs. I'm not sure who was scared more me or the Dove and I’m afraid I might of stepped on his tail, or at least lightly pressed my foot on it. I did not see this Dove in the slightest but with the help of my Mum and Sister we carefully brought him inside in a cardboard box we poked air holes in.

He seemed very weak and skittish so perhaps he was knocked out of his nest by the nasty strong wind and rain that’s been affecting us since Hurricane Harvey hit. He had no injuries that we could see so we wrapped him in some towels and kept him in the box for a couple of hours to dry him out from the rain. We tried feeding him some bread but he didn't seem to want anything to do with it. I think he ate some of the bird seed we gave him but I'm not sure. We weren’t sure whether to call the local wildlife refuge (Which was closed until the morning anyway) or not.

Finally before we head to bed that night my Mum and I took him outside after our Dove friend began to stir and become restless. We were going to leave the box open on the porch but he was so eager he just flew out and went on his way. I'm pretty sure he didn't say thank you, which was rude but his flight and energy seemed to have returned so he was on his way back to his home. I'm sure this was one of the doves that we have come into our yard often so perhaps we’ll see him turn up again every so often; I just hope it’s not sitting at our front door again at night, unless he decides to start paying hotel fees.

This wouldn't be the first time we’ve had bird rescues or just bird visitors in general so expect at least one more in the blog’s future, it’s bound to happen.

Before I leave you guys for the day it’s time for the FREE knitting pattern feature! So as this month is a big giveaway month I may be posting patterns related to what you can knit using the yarn you have a chance to win. As this is one skein of yarn you can’t use it on say a large scale shawl but you can use it for something like this “Citron” pattern by Hilary Smith Callis.

This is actually a very popular pattern so I wouldn't be surprised if you’ve seen this pattern before but this pattern is perfect for this Malabrigo Yarn even to the point it's the same yarn brand that she used on this shawlette. You’ll need only one skein of the yarn which is 470 Yards / 50 grams. For this pattern you will also need 1 US 6 / 4.5 mm size needle with a 24 inch cord.

It's a pretty simple yet elegant pattern and the variegated colors of this yarn should show up quite vibrantly as this awesome shawlette wrap. It seems quite easy to knit and would be an excellent beginning shawl so you can check the pattern out here: http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter09/PATTcitron.php.

I'm going to be leaving you guys for the day so be sure to leave a comment so you can be entered into this giveaway! Remember this will run until September 29th and despite posting more blogs after this you can only enter the giveaway if you comment on this blog so I’ll make sure it’s featured on the side of the page so you can always access it. Also Mum if you’re reading this, you can’t qualify for this giveaway by commenting.

This was ZAK Entertainment

See you on Monday!

  3. Wow. I just stumbled across your blog and I'm pretty excited. First, I'm a huge knitter so this gorgeous yarn giveaway caught my eye (that color!!) and I am looking for a blog my son and I can get into. He is all about video games and comics and I am all about the knitting and art and travel. You must have the only blog on the planet that has all this in terms of content! I love it. Great job. Thanks for giving my son and I a new way to connect. Cheers!

  6. I absolutely love this yarn! It reminds me of beautiful autumn leaves when they peak, natures paintbrush. I think it would look gorgeous as a shawl although I have never worked with lace before - I'm dying to!

My Grandma taught me how to knit and crochet so I love that your mum is such a big influence on you.
